2013 Activity Schedule
MARCH 3/29-3/31 Easter Weekend! - We'll have Easter crafts, egg decorating, and a movie at Kids Club, plus an Easter Egg Hunt with a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Don't forget your cameras! APRIL 5-7 Start Your Engines! Bring your RC cars and join us in the RC control tower for the first Rip Van Winkle Campground RC race of the season! Don't have a car? Hang out on the bleachers and cheer your favorite car to victory! Don't worry, if you get "RC Fever" you can come up to the store to get one of your very own! 12-14 Just Chillin’ Weekend - Come for a relaxing weekend and enjoy the natural surroundings. Saturday, let's go for a hike on the property and then come back for some yummy hot chocolate around the fire! 26-28 May Day Weekend - Let's welcome summer with a good old-fashioned May Day Celebration that lasts the whole weekend! Hunter Mountain hosts the TAP beer festival.
MAY 3-5 Good Old-Fashioned Fun Weekend - Let's relive the simple pleasures of days long gone. Forget the electronics at home, say good-bye to your worries for the weekend and just enjoy each and every moment. Saugerties hosts Esopus Bend Kayak Tour 10-12 Mother's Day Weekend - Let Mom know how thankful you are for her! Bring her camping and let her relax for the weekend. The kids can come to Kids Club on Saturday at 10am and make a card for Mom. We'll have coffee and danish in the store on Sunday. It's mom's day so her coffee and danish is on us! 17-19 Rip Van Winkle Campground's Camper Dog Show! Dogs, here's your moment in the spotlight! Have your human register you to be in the show! 24-27 Memorial Day Weekend - Let's honor our fallen and enjoy what they fought so hard for - our family, our friends, and our freedom! Kids Club Saturday morning at 10:00.
JUNE 5/31-6/2 Scavenger Hunt - Join us for a scavenger hunt! There will be hunts for all ages! Saugerties hosts Lions Club Scholarship Tournament 7-9 National Get Outdoors Day! - Come celebrate the great outdoors at Rip Van Winkle Campground! Join us in the early evening for stories and roasted marshmallows by the fire! Hunter Mountain hosts Mountain Jam and Motorcycle Rally
19-21 Dog Days of Summer are here! – Now’s the time to see what a good old-fashioned swimming hole formed by a cool mountain stream feels like. If the stream’s too cool, try our heated pool! Or take a scenic drive into the mountains and see what tubing on the Esopus is like. There are lots of ways to cool off in the land of Rip Van Winkle!
JULY 4-8 Independence Day! Enjoy our trout fishing, Bass fishing, pedal boats, horseshoes, hayrides, bingo, RC track (bring your own cars), outdoor games, swimming, bingo, arcade, and movies. Saugerties hosts Independence Day parade, car show, events at Cantine Field, and Fireworks. FREE Shuttle 12-14 Old West Cook-Off – Cook up some western grub and enter the cook-off contest! Try it over the fire for a really amazing flavor! Categories of Judging: Best Meat, Chili, and Dessert. Cook-off participants sign up in the office before noon on Saturday for instructions. Judging at 4:30pm. Potluck dinner open to everyone, 5pm (Please bring a dish to share if you don’t enter the cook-off contest.) 19-21 Christmas In July – Christmas is magical, especially in the land of Rip Van Winkle! Bring your Holiday Spirit and decorations! Site decorating contest, kids coloring contest, and a visit by Santa tops it off! Kids Club Saturday morning at 10:00. 26-28 Pool Party Weekend! Pool games, music, snacks and so much fun you won't want to leave! Windham Mountain hosts the Warrior Dash
AUGUST 2-4 Good Old-Fashioned Fun! - Put away the video games, the phone and electronics and just enjoy BEING. Play GIANT checkers, horseshoes, or ladderball. Go pedal boating. Swim. Listen to the sounds of nature or the voices of those you love. Relax. Refresh. Revive. FREE Shuttle to Ulster County Fair Sat. only).
23-25 Where can you watch a calf be born, go to a concert, go on amusement park rides, all while drinking a fresh-from-the-cow milkshake? The Dutchess County Fair! The amazing things to see and do at the Fair don't end there! Take our FREE Shuttle to the Dutchess County Fair (Sat only) and have an experience of a lifetime!
SEPTEMBER 8/30 - 9/2 Labor Day Weekend - Come enjoy the last long weekend of summer with us. Enjoy our trout fishing, Bass fishing, pedal boats, horseshoes, hayrides, bingo, RC track (bring your own cars), outdoor games, swimming, bingo, arcade, and movies. 6-8 Hudson Valley Wine and Food Festival - A celebration of the gourmet lifestyle in the Hudson Valley, this festival features hundreds of wines from all over New York and the world, with more than 100 gourmet specialty food, fine art, and lifestyle vendors, food sampling from some of the region’s best restaurants and live entertainment! Hop on board our FREE Shuttle (Sat. only)! 13-15 Harvest Weekend - Come savor the magnificent views of the Hudson Valley. Hop aboard the Rip Van Winkle Bus to visit a local farm and pick your own apples, pumpkins, and raspberries. ($) The fun doesn’t have to stop now! Make a reservation for next weekend and leave your unit set up onsite with no storage fee! Friday night is time for games by the fire at 7:00pm– join us! 27-29 Hudson Valley Garlic Festival - Get ready for a real treat as vendors from around the country prepare an eclectic assortment of culinary garlic treats. Fun, food and sensory delights await your entire family in beautiful Saugerties. FREE Shuttle to nearby festival (Sat. only).
OCTOBER 4-6 Halloween Weekend – Bring your decorations and costumes! Costume parade, trick or treating, site decorating contest, haunted trail. 11-14 Columbus Day Weekend – Come enjoy the fall foliage during the last big camping weekend of 2013. Don’t miss the GIANT bonfire!
